Carfentanil, An Opioid So Strong That 0.1 MG Is Enough To Kill Even The Most Tolerant Opioid User, Is Spreading Through The Streets And Threatening To Push The Opioid Pandemic To Deadly New Heights
The Opioid Pandemic has been coming in waves, as shown by this graphic from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). It started with prescription opioids, particularly Hydrocodone and Oxycodone, around the turn of the millennium. People got hooked on pain pills en masse, and then regulators finally stepped in around 2010 to shutdown the prescription pill mills. This only worsened the opioid crisis, and kicked off wave 2, where people who were hooked on the pills went out into the streets and began using Heroin. Then wave 3 kicked off only a few years later, as drug dealers began to mix illicitly manufactured synthetic opioids like Fentanyl and O-Desmethyltramadol into Heroin, leading to mass overdoses, and causing the Opioid death rate in American to climb to over 50,000 per year.
As can be seen in the above chart, the 3 waves of the Opioid Pandemic aren’t really separate. Rather, all 3 waves are occurring simultaneously and getting worse. Notably, by far the worst wave is the 3rd wave, and it has caused a surge in deaths that far exceeds the deaths from Heroin. This is because drug dealers are mixing extremely deadly opioids, such as Fentanyl which is 100 times stronger than Morphine, into street Heroin. If a Heroin user receives a bag which has a little too much Fentanyl in it, or if the user gets a bag that is not thoroughly mixed and contains highly concentrated pockets of Fentanyl called ‘hotspots’, then they could easily die.
The disease that such powerful synthetic opioids causes is of course a major part of the problem. Basically, users get hopelessly addicted and can’t stop without falling apart physically and mentally, and they need to inject huge amounts of Heroin all the time to feel well. This leads to a game of Russian roulette, where it becomes inevitable that they will inject a bag of Heroin that has too much Fentanyl and overdose.
Things are already bad, but they are getting even worse with the rise of Carfentanil, a synthetic opioid which is 10,000 times stronger than Morphine, meaning it is 100 times stronger than Fentanyl. This makes Carfentanil unimaginably deadly. Just 0.1 mg of Carfentanil would kill the most tolerant Heroin user, and 0.01 mg would be enough to kill people with no tolerance or light tolerance.
0.01-0.1 mg is such a small amount that it is barely visible. Literally, a deadly dose of Carfentanil is the size of a tiny speck of dust. This is why a warning was issued to all law enforcement agencies about Carfentanil, since if an officer opens up a bag of Carfentanil and breathes in a few specks of it, it could easily kill them.
In-fact, the only reason Carfentanil was developed in the first place was as an elephant tranquilizer. Indeed, in Jurassic Park they took down a T-Rex with just 10 mg of Carfentanil, and although this is fictional, it seems realistic. This makes it clear that Carfentanil is not for human use, and is the sort of drug that assassins would use rather than being something that is recreational.
Shockingly, despite the extremely deadly nature of Carfentanil, it is spreading through the streets. A search of recent news about Carfentanil reveals all sorts of cases about people dying from it, or being busted with large amounts of it.
To put this in perspective, in a news article from 2 weeks ago a dealer was busted with 102.91 grams of Carfentanil. This is enough Carfentanil to kill over 10 million people, and that’s the Carfentanil seized from just 1 recent case. There is no doubt that there is enough Carfentanil in circulation to kill everyone on the planet.
The reason Carfentanil is spreading is because it is extremely cheap, and also extremely easy to smuggle. Just 1 gram is enough to make 1 million ‘recreational’ doses, and 1 gram of powder can easily be concealed, versus other drugs like Cocaine and Heroin which require kilos upon kilos to provide a similar amount of doses. Due to this, the Carfentanil situation is likely to only worsen, and it appears it could create a 4th wave of the Opioid Pandemic that is far deadlier than the previous 3 waves.
The main point that I want to make by presenting this information is that it is unacceptably safe to use street opioids, or really any street drugs, since any street drug could be laced with Carfentanil. Indeed, Carfentanil is not just found in Heroin, but also commonly found in Cocaine, Meth, and even possibly Marijuana. Drug dealers lace other drugs with it in order to get their customers hooked.
Based on this, once again, it is not safe under any circumstances to use street opioids. The obvious alternative is Kratom, a natural opioid that has never killed anyone in history and is highly effective. Just browse through The Kratom Herald, and you will see a massive amount of scientific studies proving the safety, benefits, and efficacy of Kratom.
On a final note, the Kratom community needs to do everything we can to help street opioid users to make the transition to Kratom. This is a critical life and death situation for all street drug users, especially now that Carfentanil is spreading, and simply telling drug users about Kratom could save their life.
