Deaths Due To Synthetic Opioids And Opiates Have Climbed To The Highest Levels In History

The drug problem in America has reached new heights, with 72,000 drug overdose deaths in 2019, exceeding the previous record high of 70,700 in 2017, and drastically up from the 67,000 drug overdose deaths in 2018. Essentially, it was believed that the drug crisis peaked in 2017 and that progress was being made, but now all of that progress has been wiped out, and more people are dying from drugs than ever before.

This surge in drug overdose deaths is led by synthetic opioids and opiates, with deaths due to opioids rising to 51,000 in 2019, far surpassing the previous record of 48,000 in 2017. Further, unlike drug overdose deaths which did dip in 2018, opioid overdose deaths have been consistently rising over the years.

Zooming out, the drug crisis in America is largely due to the Opioid Pandemic. Indeed, 76% of all drug overdose deaths are due to synthetic opioids and opiates.

Zooming out even further, Big Pharma 100% caused the current Opioid Pandemic, as revealed by data in a previous article on The Kratom Herald. Around the turn of the millennium Big Pharma companies used aggressive and dishonest tactics to spread synthetic opioids across the country, most notably Oxycodone and Hydrocodone. This created a massive amount of addicts, and when the government finally stepped in to put restrictions on pill mills, these addicts turned to street Heroin. Soon after that, most of the street Heroin began to be mixed with Fentanyl, which is 100X stronger than Morphine, leading to a massive surge in deaths which continues to this day.

Further, Big Pharma and the government has continued their evil practices, and the nation is once again being flooded with synthetic opioids.

It seems that the record opioid overdose deaths in 2019 may only be the beginning. One of the primary problems is that officially approved opioid addiction treatments generally center around Methadone and Buprenorphine, which are synthetic opioids themselves and do nothing to cure addiction, and in-fact are often reported to be more addictive than Heroin. Another primary problem, as mentioned above, is that Big Pharma continues to get Americans addicted to prescription opioids on a massive scale, which is what caused the Opioid Pandemic in the first place.

Also, the Coronavirus Pandemic has truly destroyed the economy and the fabric of society, and the widespread poverty, suffering, and stress caused by this situation is leading to a major uptick in drug use.

The only ray of hope shining through this mess is Kratom. Kratom has been scientifically and subjectively proven to mitigate, and even cure, opioid addiction, and there is no doubt that Kratom has saved the lives of countless opioid addicts.

In-fact, if Kratom didn’t exist, it seems likely that opioid overdose deaths would have been well over 100,000 in 2019, rather than 51,000.

If the government truly cared about the people, then Kratom would become an officially recognized opioid addiction treatment, and then perhaps the Opioid Pandemic could truly begin to be mitigated. Not only that, but Kratom should be used for chronic pain as well, instead of getting pain patients addicted to prescription opioids. Indeed, there are a mountain of subjective reports that Kratom works better for pain than synthetic opioids.

Unfortunately, money is the driving factor behind the government’s and Big Pharma’s decisions, and therefore it is certain that the Opioid Pandemic will only continue to get more severe. However, us Kratom users can do our part to educate chronic pain patients and opioid addicts about Kratom, and save as many lives as possible.
