Scientific Study Confirms That Kratom Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties Similar To NSAIDs Like Ibuprofen/Aspirin, Except Kratom Is Much Safer Since It Doesn't Cause Ulceration

Kratom has been used since ancient times in Southeast Asia to alleviate all sorts of ailments, including inflammation, and a scientific study titled ‘Mitragynine inhibits the COX-2 mRNA expression and prostaglandin E₂ production induced by lipopolysaccharide in RAW264.7 macrophage cells‘ sought to confirm if Kratom really has anti-inflammatory properties, and if so, by which mechanisms these anti-inflammatory effects work.

In order to investigate Kratom’s anti-inflammatory effects, scientists conducted an experiment on Macrophage cells, which are cells that play a vital role in removing foreign substances from the body like bacteria, cancer, etc., and also Macrophages play a critical role in inflammation, with some Macrophages being responsible for increasing inflammation, while other Macrophages decrease inflammation.

The scientists then dosed these cells with Mitragynine, Kratom’s primary alkaloid, as well as Aspirin, which is one of the most popular Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs).

After that, the scientists analyzed the inhibition of COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. Essentially, NSAIDs bring about anti-inflammatory effects via the inhibition of the COX enzymes.

Literally, this effect can cause serious damage and even death, and scientists have long sought to find a drug that can relief inflammation without causing ulceration.

It seems Kratom is this exact novel treatment for inflammation that scientists have been looking for. Kratom has significant anti-inflammatory effects via inhibition of COX-2, but since Kratom does not inhibit COX-1, it does not cause ulceration.

Putting all of this together, these scientists not only found that Kratom has anti-inflammatory properties on par with NSAIDs like Ibuprofen/Aspirin, but also that it has all the benefits of NSAIDs with none of the bad effects, since Kratom doesn’t inhibit COX-1 and therefore doesn’t cause ulceration.

Thus, anti-inflammatory effects without any negative side effects can be added to the long list of Kratom’s miraculous benefits, and this property alone can save lives, since NSAIDs cause numerous deaths and injuries every year, and it is clear that Kratom has the potential to be a safe alternative to NSAIDs.
