Scientific Study Confirms That Mitragynine Eliminates Opiate Withdrawal Symptoms Just As Effectively As Methadone And Buprenorphine
A peer reviewed scientific study published this month has confirmed that Mitragynine, Kratom’s primary alkaloid, is just as effective for opiate withdrawal treatment as Methadone and Buprenorphine. In-fact, considering how Methadone and Buprenorphine cause thousands of deaths in the United States every year and are highly addictive, Kratom is actually better for treating opiate withdrawal, since Kratom has never caused a scientifically proven death in history, and Kratom does not induce significant physical addiction due to a lack of beta-arrestin recruitment.
Specifically, this scientific study is titled ‘Mitragynine Attenuates Morphine Withdrawal Effects in Rats – A Comparison With Methadone and Buprenorphine‘, and is from the University of Sains Malaysia, Freidrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremburg, and the National Neuroscience Institute of Singapore.
In this study rats were given increasing doses of Morphine for 6 days, and on the 7th day the Morphine was discontinued in order to induce opiate withdrawal. It was found that this induced profound opiate withdrawal for 16 days.
The rats were then given Mitragynine, Methadone, and Buprenorphine. It was found that 5-30 mg/kg of Mitragynine was enough to eliminate acute withdrawal symptoms, while 0.5-2 mg/kg and 0.4-1.6 mg/kg of Buprenorphine and Methadone respectively were needed in order to eliminate acute symptoms of opiate withdrawal.
Ultimately, the major finding from this experiment is that at the right dose, Mitragynine can be just as effective as Methadone and Buprenorphine for eliminating opiate withdrawal. This is a miracle considering how safe and non-addictive Kratom is, whereas Methadone and Buprenorphine are just as addictive and dangerous as other synthetic opioids and opiates, and therefore perpetuate an opioid addiction rather than cure it.
In other words, now there is proof that Kratom works just as well as Methadone and Buprenorphine for eliminating opiate withdrawal symptoms, but Kratom is even better because it actually ends the synthetic opioid and opiate addiction rather than perpetuating it.
Indeed, the scientists conclude “These data suggest that mitragynine may be a potential drug candidate for opiate withdrawal treatment.”
Notably, this scientific study corroborates the results of another recent scientific study which found that Kratom has the desired characteristics of a novel pharmacotherapeautic treatment for managing opioid use disorder, since it alleviates opioid withdrawal symptoms while simultaneously not inducing significant physiological dependence.
Thus, the case for Kratom to be used as a treatment for synthetic opioid and opiate withdrawal is getting stronger and stronger, and perhaps one day Kratom will be used in a professional setting to manage opioid use disorder, which would definitely save lives.
