Kratom Has Profound Antiproliferative Efficacy On Cancer Cells, And Therefore Has Anticancer Potential, According To A Scientific Study
Kratom’s potential anti-cancer effects are an extremely interesting and promising area of research, although unfortunately not much research has been done about Kratom’s anti-cancer effects to date. A previous article on The Kratom Herald discussed how Mitraphylline, an alkaloid found in both Kratom and Cat’s Claw, has been shown by multiple scientific studies to inhibit the growth of several cancer cell lines, and in-fact the evidence is so firm that it is clear that Mitraphylline can suppress the growth of tumors.
Another scientific study discussed in an article this past week found that Kratom has cytotoxic, i.e. inhibitory, effects on breast cancer cells, and this study is unique since it studies Kratom itself, whereas the studies about Mitraphylline focused on Cat’s Claw.
Today’s article discusses yet another scientific study which confirms that Kratom has anti-cancer potential. The study is titled ‘Antioxidant value and antiproliferative efficacy of mitragynine and a silane reduced analogue‘, and this study particularly focuses on Mitragynine, which is Kratom’s primary alkaloid.
In this study scientists investigated Mitragynine’s antioxidant and anti-cancer effects. Right off the bat, it was found that Kratom has strong anti-oxidant activity, which is something that has been confirmed by other scientific studies, and this is an important result since antioxidant activity leads to a variety of health benefits via lowering oxidative stress and in-turn helping to prevent damage to cells.
This study then conducted an experiment where Mitragynine’s effects on leukemia and colon cancer cell lines were analyzed. It was found that Kratom had cytotoxic effects on these cancer cell lines, meaning Mitragynine literally killed the cancer cells, and that a higher dose of Mitragynine led to more death of cancer cells.
Perhaps most importantly, the scientists found that Kratom has profound anti-proliferative efficacy on the cancer cells in this experiment, and in-fact Mitragynine had efficacy comparable to Fluorouracil, a popular drug which is used to treat all sorts of cancers.
Literally, this scientific study found that Mitragynine, Kratom’s primary alkaloid, had anti-cancer efficacy comparable to a widely used anti-cancer drug.
Based on these results, the scientists conclude “These findings revealed that the medicinal and nutitional values of mitragynine obtained from ketum leaves that growth in tropical forest of Southeast Asia and its analogues does not limited to analgesic properties but could be promising antioxidant and anticancer or chemopreventive compounds.”
Thus, this scientific study adds to the evidence that Kratom has the potential to be an anti-cancer treatment, and certainly this is a topic that deserves vigorous research, since cancer is a serious problem worldwide, and the cancer drugs which do exist are for the most part extremely dangerous and have terrible side-effects, whereas Kratom has practically no negative side effects.
On a final note, it would be a miracle if it was confirmed that Kratom could be used to manage cancer, since Kratom would basically be the only anti-cancer drug that is safe. That being said, Big Pharma is probably not interested in doing such research, since if Kratom was confirmed to be an effective anti-cancer drug, it would cost Big Pharma hundreds of billions of dollars.
